Abotsi Market offers sellers two shipping options to deliver products to customers, ensuring simplicity, efficiency, and flexibility.
Set your store’s shipping method. You must choose one option: UPS or Table Rate. Never check both.
Express checklist – Shipping methods
Review these essentials:
- Shipping Origin Address: fill in country, city, postcode and street address (origin), then save.
- Products: enter weight (kg) and dimensions (cm) (Height, Width, Length) on every product page.
- Choose the method: Settings > Shipping Settings > Manage Multi Shipping → check one option: UPS or Table Rate. Keep Free Shipping checked: this makes the per-product “Free Shipping” toggle available (field Free Shipping = Yes/No on each product).
- If UPS: method is active immediately → in Orders, open the order, click Create/Print Label, attach it, and add the tracking number.
- If Table Rate: Shipping Settings > Shipping Configuration > Table Rate → create your range (by weight/zone), save, and test a checkout.
Step 1 – Enter your store’s shipping information
Before activating a method, complete your store’s general shipping details (used to calculate rates and generate labels):
- Shipping Origin Address : country, city, postcode, street address.
- Handling time (optional): business days needed to prepare a parcel.
- Product weight & dimensions: on each product, enter weight (kg) and dimensions (cm) (Height, Width, Length). Required for UPS and recommended for Table Rate.
Step 2 – Choose your method: UPS or Table Rate
In your seller dashboard, go to Settings > Shipping Settings > Manage Multi Shipping (or Multiship Shipping).
- Check one primary method:
- Abotsi Market UPS Shipping (recommended if you ship via UPS);
- Table Rate (to set up your own carrier, e.g., La Poste/Colissimo).
- Do not check both primary methods (UPS or Table Rate).
- Keep Free Shipping checked: this does not add a checkout method; it enables the per-product free-shipping toggle on product pages (set Free Shipping = Yes when you want to offer it, default is No).
- Save.
Good to know: if you choose UPS, the method is active immediately in your store, with no support intervention.
Step 3 – Ship with UPS
With UPS, rates are calculated automatically from your ship-from address and product details (weight and dimensions).
Requirements
Make sure you have:
- A correct ship-from address in your store profile.
- Weight (kg) and dimensions (cm) entered on each product.
Print your UPS labels
- Go to Orders > open the order to ship.
- Click Create/Print Label (UPS).
- Verify the parcel (total weight, dimensions), confirm the suggested service, then generate the label.
- Download the PDF, print it, and stick it on the parcel.
- Drop off at a UPS point or schedule a pickup on the UPS website if needed.
- Add the tracking number to the order if it isn’t filled automatically, then set the order status to Shipped.
Step 4 – Set up Table Rate (your own method)
Table Rate lets you offer your preferred carrier (e.g., La Poste, Colissimo) with fees you define.
Access Table Rate
From the left menu of your seller area:
- Click Table Rate Shipping.
- Two sub-menus are available:
- Manage Shipping: build simple rules (most common).
- Manage Shipping Superset: advanced rules (zones, postcodes, complex weight/price tiers).
Activate (choose Table Rate as the primary method)
- Go to Settings > Shipping Settings > Manage Multi Shipping, check Table Rate (and uncheck UPS), keep Free Shipping checked, then Save.
Set your rates
- Open Table Rate Shipping > Manage Shipping (or Manage Shipping Superset for advanced options).
- Add a rule (“Add New”) and fill, depending on the screen:
- Destination: country/region/postcode (or “All” for a general rule).
- Tiers: weight From/To (kg) and/or cart price From/To (€).
- Shipping fee: the amount charged to the customer for this tier.
- Method name: label shown to the customer (e.g., “Colissimo – France 48–72h”).
- Indicative lead time: optional (e.g., “2–3 business days”).
- Create continuous ranges (no gaps or overlaps) to cover all cases.
- Save your rules.
Simple rule examples
- France (metropolitan): 0–1 kg = €6.90; 1–2 kg = €8.90; 2–5 kg = €12.90.
- EU (ex-FR): 0–1 kg = €11.90; 1–2 kg = €14.90.
Tip: if you have a large matrix (CSV, many zones), use Manage Shipping Superset and/or contact support to validate the best approach.
Free Shipping – how it works
- Store level: in Manage Multi Shipping, keep Free Shipping checked. This does not add a checkout method.
- Product level: on the product page, set the Free Shipping field:
- Yes → shipping is free for this product (no fee shown).
- No (default) → fees are calculated and shown via your primary method (UPS or Table Rate).
Tip: set Yes for promos or very light items; keep No when you want to charge shipping.
Step 5 – Checks & best practices
- Test your setup by placing a test order to verify the fees displayed.
- Keep weight and dimensions up to date; they directly affect fees.
- Use proper packaging and communicate realistic lead times.
- To offer free shipping on a specific product, open its page and set Free Shipping = Yes (and keep Free Shipping checked in Manage Multi Shipping).
- Track your shipments: add the tracking number and notify the buyer.
Common errors & troubleshooting
General
If something looks off, check the following:
- Both primary methods checked (UPS + Table Rate): choose one method in Manage Multi Shipping, then Save.
- Free Shipping unchecked (in Manage Multi Shipping): the option won’t appear on product pages → check Free Shipping.
- Free Shipping set to “Yes” by mistake on a product: switch the field back to Free Shipping = No to restore calculated fees (UPS or Table Rate).
- Forgot to save: after any change, click Save to apply.
- Incomplete/incorrect ship-from address: update country, city, postcode and street address in your store profile.
- Missing or zero weight/dimensions: enter weight (kg) and dimensions (cm) on each product.
- Invalid units/entries: numbers only (e.g., 0.5 kg, 12 cm); don’t put text in numeric fields.
UPS
Typical issues and fixes:
- Can’t generate label: check origin address, total weight, and parcel dimensions; try again.
- Unexpected high fees: large dimensions → possible dimensional weight. Ensure dimensions reflect the actual packaging.
- Label prints unreadable: download the PDF, print at 100% on A4; avoid auto scaling.
- No tracking visible: add the tracking number manually if it wasn’t auto-filled, then set status to Shipped.
Table Rate
Typical issues and fixes:
- No method at checkout: your tiers don’t cover all ranges (e.g., a gap between 1–2 kg and 2–3 kg) or destination not included.
- Overlapping rules: avoid duplicates (e.g., 0–1 kg and 0–2 kg). Use continuous, exclusive ranges.
- Unclear labels: provide a precise method name (e.g., “Colissimo – France 48–72h”).
